My COLE family, originate from a tiny village in North Yorkshire called Old Byland. They lived here from the beginning of the 18th Century. The name goes through several variants, which include COAL and COALE.
My Great Great Grandmother was Sarah Cole. She married a Thomas Ellis.
This COLE line is of particularly interesting as Sarah's Aunt was Esther Cole. Esther married a John Wilson who was the great grandfather of James Harold Wilson who became the British Prime Minister.
